Welcome, songbird.

I know what it’s like to feel like you have thousands of songs trapped inside your heart. Wondering if they’ll ever see the day of light.

A constant, low hum of anxiety in the backdrop of your days — will I die with these songs and stories still within me?

You are not alone. Let me help you unlock your own soul songs.

The most regretful people on earth are those who felt the call to creative work, who felt their own creative power restive and uprising, and gave to it neither power nor time.
— Mary Oliver

What you need is a transmission

…from a human who gone through the darkness and come up on the other side with a voice all her own.

I spent years giving my power away to all kinds of excuses. The biggest one of all:

NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

With a belief like that, we can’t hope to get anywhere. This caused me to live inauthentically in both life and artistic expression.

I am a woman who has learned, the really hard way, how to finally find her own voice.

And let me be completely honest with you.

This isn’t something I am “cured” from. It’s a lesson that continues to unfold.

Whatever you do — do not believe for one moment that a mentor, a book, a course, or a teacher will make you a songwriter. You will do that.

You must learn to take your power back, you must learn to take radical responsibility for your art. You must be willing to sit in the discomfort until the light breaks through. It is the only way.

The only way out is through.

If that’s you — if you’re one of the wild ones who is done living in a waiting room —

…then this workshop is going to break you open.

It’s going to give you the tools you need in order to write songs that sound like you.

Your very own Soul Songs.

An end to the cycle

Overthinking is what got you to this place — a songbird without a song to sing.

This pre-recorded, no frills, video series workshop echoes the way I love teach in my live classes — raw, vulnerably, and without holding anything back. The opposite of over-produced or AI.

No one has time for long, drawn out courses. And quite frankly, you can ask ChatGPT to give you a songwriting lesson. Problem is, you’ve probably already done that, right?

The sound of a soul song

I’m a firm believer in appreciating every part of our artistic journey. Even the art we created that we might feel cringey about. It’s a beautiful thing to be able to pull up old song clips, scribbled poems or attempted paintings you created back in high school and be proud of the fact that you created. You dared. You gave a damn.

The song below, Burn It Away, is the first song I co-wrote when I moved to Nashville. The song was written in under 15 minutes. And we decided to record it.

To be honest - I feel ZERO connection to this song. I came to the writing session with an idea for a summer song, and within a few minutes, my co-writer took the idea and wrote a super catchy, radio ready song! It was incredible!

On the outside, I was excited to have a song that sounded so professional. On the inside, I completely contracted. Shrank. Felt like a total fraud.

Why? Because I so easily handed my voice over to my co-writer. I wasn’t sure what my WHY was, I didn’t feel good enough in comparison to this incredible writer, and therefore - I gave my voice away. I gave my identity as an artist away.

If you don’t know who you are or what you want to say — the world is going to tell you who you are and what you have to say.

Being an artist - a true artist - is about finding out what you value and bravely pursuing the life that grows around it.

I’m sharing these two songs so you can hear the difference between Burn It Away, the song I have absolutely zero connection to and Rosemary, which I would refer to as a Soul Song. You might actually prefer Burn It Away over Rosemary, and that’s totally fine! Rosemary is a rough recording done with my iPhone. It isn’t commercially perfect. Unlike Burn It Away, it hasn’t been produced.

And you know what? I love it. Because it’s MINE. My voice. My song. And no one can take that away from me.

I can’t tell you how good it feels to finally have found my voice,
my very own Soul Songs.

Burn It Away -

a song I feel no connection to (not a soul song)

Rosemary -

a song I’m working on that gives me chills and butterflies, I’m so proud to have written this from scratch (a true soul song)
